Emily D’Antonio

Emily D’Antonio developed a policy statement for the New Hampshire Public Health Association which speaks to research on the intricacies of food insecurity in the state, and advocates for certain policies, practices, and programs that will improve the health of those in need. Food insecurity is a growing concern both nationally and in New Hampshire specifically. It is a complex issue that has been deemed a key determinant of health status. Emily found that food insecurity in New Hampshire is a dire issue that stems from core policies that need to be altered on the topics of: sustainable sourcing, educational outreach, lack of funding, underutilization of federal nutrition assistance programs, health care site screening, and ostracized rural communities deemed as food deserts/swamps.
