We’re going to ask seniors how they use generative AI and what challenges and obstacles they’re facing. We’re going to build an interactive tool as an intervention to help them better use generative AI and understand fake information or misinformation, especially considering many of them have retired or are living alone.

Yi Grace Ji is an award-winning researcher and an assistant professor at BU’s College of Communication. She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Public Relations Research and Public Relations Review and on the advisory committee of the International Public Relations Research Conference (IPRRC). Her work examines how organizations navigate sociopolitical discourse and emerging media to engage stakeholders. Grounded in interdisciplinary theories from communication, business management, and psychology, her work systematically investigates the attitudinal, psychological, relational, and behavioral outcomes of strategic communication for social impact. 

With MISI, Grace Ji began a research project on the experiences of seniors with Generative AI that will inform the development of AI-powered chatbots as interventions to reduce loneliness and increase AI literacy and autonomy.
