DSLab researchers publish journal article motivated by MBTA collaboration
Ruthairut Wootisarn (SCM graduate from MET; currently a second year PhD student at University of Cincinnati), Jingran Xu (ABA graduate from MET; currently a third year PhD student at University of Connecticut) and Professor John Maleyeff co-authored a journal article entitled “Simheuristics with metamodel initialization for determining repair system inventory policies” in the Computers & Industrial Engineering journal (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cie.2026.111811). This work, performed in the MET Decision Sciences Research Lab (DSLab) over the past several years, was motivated by a SCM capstone project done for the MBTA that concerned the management of parts inventories used to repair MBTA facilities (buses, trains, tracks, platforms, etc.). The work has previously been the subject of several conference presentations by DSLab researchers at DSI and INFORMS annual meetings. Information about current research being done by the DSLab can be found on their web site (https://sites.bu.edu/met-dslab/).
