Mobile and Electronic Health ARC Welcomes New Co- Director!
The Mobile and Electronic Health ARCĀ welcomes its new co-director, Dr. Tibor Palfai, a professor and Director of the Clinical Training Program in the Boston University Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences.
Dr. Palfai completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Yale University and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies at Brown University.
Dr. Palfai’s primary research interests are: (1) understanding the cognitive-motivational processes that underlie the self- control of addictive behaviors and (2) evaluating brief interventions for alcohol and substance use among college students and those in medical settings.
Research projects include: (1) laboratory studies that examine the influence of alcohol on decision making, (2) studies that seek to better understand how cognitive-motivational processes influence addictive behaviors and behavior change, (3) studies to develop and test web and text-based interventions for hazardous drinking and other risk behaviors among college students, and (4) studies that seek to utilize technology to improve interventions for alcohol/substance use and pain among medical patients such as those in HIV care.
