Developing conditional knockout tools.
To address this necessity in epigenetic studies, we are developing conditional knockout tools at both the protein and RNA (e.g., targeting non-coding RNAs) levels and such a tool will be applicable to studies in animal models. Once developed, they will be applied in two major applications:
1) Study host-pathogen interactions in animal model directly and guide the development of anti-microbial drugs and vaccines;
2) As the tool to study processes related to development and ageing in animal models with special emphasis on chemical basis of biological clocks.
