Complex humanitarian emergencies (CHEs) – events that are associated with a variety of factors, such as war, poverty, overpopulation, human-caused environmental destruction and change, and natural disasters have been shown to have tremendous effects on human health and well-being. And in a rapidly changing world, it is imperative that Healthcare Systems are best placed to respond. Using different Health Systems frameworks, the Global Health Systems R.I.S.E lab is interested in elucidating how healthcare systems prepare for CHEs and how these initiatives impact delivery and access to healthcare as well as the health outcomes of those affected.
