A key agenda item across healthcare systems is the idea that “all individuals and communities receive quality health-care services that they need and are protected from health threats without suffering financial hardship” i.e., Universal Healthcare Coverage (UHC). A crucial pillar of UHC is health insurance reforms that seek to refine and optimize access to healthcare especially for the marginalized and most vulnerable. In this focus area, the Global Health Systems R.I.S.E lab seeks to answer the question: What are the impacts of health insurance reforms on the health and economic outcomes of the target population[s]? & How can the reforms be maximized to improve the outcomes within the target populations?

Projects:

  • Behavioral responses to health insurance enrollment mandates
  • Health insurance reforms and access to care for Persons Living With HIV/AIDS [PLWHA]
  • “Health Insurance Desserts” and health insurance enrollment
  • Predictors of Health Insurance enrollment in urban and rural settings
