The Global Health Systems R.I.S.E lab applies quantitative and qualitative methods to conduct Research on Insurance, Social Determinants of Health, and Complex Humanitarian Emergencies through rigorous evaluation and synthesis of innovative data across different healthcare systems.

We focus on marginalized and at-risk communities/populations including – Immigrants; Informal Sector Workers; Internally Displaced Persons (IDP); Persons Living With HIV/AIDS [PLWHA]; Persons with Mental Health Challenges; Pregnant Women; Mothers and their Newborn Children; & Refugees. This focus is informed by the need to improve population health by using healthcare systems to bridge different communities.

To achieve its aim, the Global Health Systems R.I.S.E lab primarily conducts research in the following three [3] areas:

      1. Healthcare Systems and Health Insurance Reforms
      2. Healthcare Systems and Social Determinants of Health (SDH)/Disparities
      3. Healthcare Systems and Complex Humanitarian Emergencies (CHEs)
