Exploring Teachers’ Childhood Literacy Experiences and Perspectives on Teaching Young Bilingual Children

The Exploring Teachers’ Childhood Literacy Experiences and Perspectives on Teaching Young Bilingual Children study seeks to examine how PK–3 teachers’ lived experiences of immigration inform their instructional practices and pedagogical approaches in supporting young Spanish-speaking bilingual children. It aims to identify the strategies employed by teachers of Latin American descent to facilitate language and literacy development, foster cultural responsiveness, and promote the emotional well-being of their students. Specifically, the study focuses on gaining a nuanced understanding of these educators’ childhood literacy experiences and their instructional methodologies.
