Dr. Martha Vibbert is Executive Director of the SPARK Center at Boston Medical Center (BMC) where she holds faculty appointments in Psychiatry and Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine. SPARK is a therapeutic early childhood education and care program, located in Boston’s Mattapan community, serving low-income infants/toddlers with complex needs and their families. SPARK also delivers outpatient neurodevelopment assessments and two-generation behavioral health services to children (0-8 years) and their caregivers. Dr. Vibbert is a licensed clinical psychologist whose research has focused on early language acquisition, early parent-child interaction, and the combined impacts of health problems, poverty, and caregiving environments on early neurodevelopment. Her clinical work focuses on developing models of care that integrate behavioral health care into pediatric and early childhood education settings, with the goal of supporting vulnerable families and helping young children to cope with early trauma, developmental challenges, and chronic illness. She is co-founder and Director of Universal Baby, an international video and mobile technology intervention to promote key reciprocal parent-child interactions that nurture infant brain development and strong early attachments. Dr. Vibbert is a graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Education (EdM) and New York University (PhD).
