September Research in Progress

On Thursday, September 18, the BU Institute for Early Childhood Well-Being had the opportunity to host its first Research in Progress of this Fall 2025 semester. The Research in Progress is a hybrid event offered a couple of times each semester with scholars from across the university who share their work in progress in an informal setting. It’s a wonderful opportunity to hear from scholars in an array of disciplines.

For this September Research in Progress, we were honored with the following presentations:

Foundations of Toddler Sleep and Behavioral Health: Advancing Engagement and Efficacy of Parent Coaching Interventions with Low-Income Families.

  • Dr. Amanda Tarullo, PhD Associate Professor in Psychological & Brain Sciences at the BU College of Arts and Sciences, and member of the Institute for Early Childhood Well-Being Governing

Early Childhood Education Matters for Child, Family, and Community Health: A Conceptual Framework

  • Dr. Genevieve Guyol, MD, MAT Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine
  • Kyle DeMeo Cook, PhD Clinical Assistant Professor in Teaching & Learning at the BU Wheelock College of Education and Human Development

Construction of the Afro-Peruvian Identity in the Early Childhood Years

  • Dina Castro, PhD, MPH – Director of the Institute for Early Childhood Well-Being and Inaugural Bahamdan Professor in Early Childhood Well-Being, Wheelock College of Education and Human Development
  • Milagros Calderon-Moya, PhD – Bahamdan Early Career Research Scientist, BU Wheelock College of Education and Human Development

Each of these presentations were in different stages of their investigations. However, they all provided us with interesting concepts, preliminary finding, and rich discussions. We appreciate everyone that attended the event.
