Our Research

Earlier this year we conducted focus group meetings with property owners in urban, suburban and rural parts of Massachusetts to learn more about the issues they are confronted with regarding the management of their properties, as well as their views about land conservation.

These various perspectives helped us design a mail-based survey questionnaire that is being sent to approximately 1,500 people who own property in the towns along two transects extending west from Boston to Palmer and Athol.

This summer we will be conducting in-person interviews with some of these property owners to learn more about their responses to our questions and develop a deeper understanding of the issues at play. We will also be collecting field data related to ecological processes.
