Wellenius-headshot

The Director of the Center for Climate and Health, Dr. Gregory Wellenius, has been named the Beverly A. Brown Professor for the Improvement of Urban Health.

The Beverly A. Brown professorship, a multidisciplinary position dedicated to addressing health disparities among urban populations, aims to highlight and advance the efforts of an individual whose work has been especially impactful in that area. Since joining the Boston University School of Public Health in 2020, Dr. Wellenius has helped to expand BU’s climate and health work through inter-campus collaboration and convergent research.

“Public health is a relay race. The problems we deal with are deep-rooted and always evolving. Honoring Greg Wellenius with this professorship successfully passes the baton. I am thrilled at his selection.” – Beverly A. Brown, the professorship’s namesake, as quoted in the article published by Boston University.

He succeeds Dr. Patrick Kinney, an environmental health professor at the Boston University School of Public Health before his retirement this year.
