The Boston University Neuromotor Recovery Laboratory (NRL) engages in translational and multidisciplinary research directed toward eradicating walking-related disability due to neurological injury/dysfunction. Our goal is to develop and test physical therapy approaches and rehabilitation technologies that emphasize the restoration of healthy walking behavior in those living with stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological conditions.

Featured research: Move Over, Iron Man

Using state-of-the-art movement analysis technology, our scientists conduct multi-modal evaluations of walking function that span the clinical, biomechanical, and physiological domains. Our team synthesizes these data in a manner that guides the development of theory-inspired and hypothesis-driven rehabilitation programs. In partnership with our collaborators from the engineering and quantitative disciplines, the NRL supports the development and translation of innovative technologies that enhance the science and art of neurorehabilitation.
