Welcome to the home page of the Novel Materials Laboratory at Boston University.

The  lab is affiliated with the Department of Physics, the Department of Chemistry, and the Division of Materials Science and Engineering at BU.  Our interdisciplinary research involves the use of x-ray spectroscopies to study the electronic properties on a wide variety of materials, of both fundamental scientific importance, and technical significance.  All our experiments involve the use of synchrotron radiation light sources, and we run our experiments at facilities in California and Sweden.
