Shulamit Kahn is an economist and Associate Professor at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business. One stream of her recent research is about women in STEM in general, and in economics in particular. She has published extensively on this topic (in AER P&P, JEP, Oxford Handbooks, Science, PSPI, Academic Medicine and Nature Biotech among others). The other stream of her recent research focuses on immigration v. emigration to the US of non-US citizens with advanced STEM degrees, where she has studied both their choices and the impact of these choices on entrepreneurship and scientific knowledge (including publications in RESTAT, Research Policy, and Small Business Economics and co-editing the 2020 NBER book The Roles of Immigrants and Foreign Students in US Science, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.)  Dr. Kahn is also U.S. Board Chair of a non-profit vocational program and school in Kenya (Jitegemee) and on the board of a US NGO (Growth Sector) that supports disadvantaged students entering community colleges to develop STEM skills and internships.
