Megan MacGarvie is a TPRI Faculty Fellow and an Associate Professor in the department of Markets, Public Policy and Law at the Questrom School of Business at Boston University. She is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, Cambridge, MA. Her research focuses on the economics of innovation and intellectual property. One stream of recent work studies the impact of changes in copyright term on the prices of books and the availability of music; and the relationship between financing and creativity in 19th century book publishing. Another stream analyzes the impact of international mobility of US-trained STEM doctoral recipients on research productivity, collaboration, and knowledge diffusion; entrepreneurship among foreign-born STEM doctoral recipients; and the impact of US immigration policy on the return migration choices of Chinese and Indian scientists in the U.S.
