Students

Students in the Off-Campus programs located in Chelmsford and Fall River are eligible to participate in the program. A maximum of 8 foundation year students are invited to participate. The proposed ICMH project will enable students to gain specialized training in trauma by providing the following:

  • Students will enroll in the following courses which will be offered at the Off-Campus sites:
    • CP 803 – Clinical Practice with Adult Trauma
    • CP 809 – Alcohol and Drug Abuse
  • Attend required seminars each year focusing on trauma and co-morbid mental health and substance use disorder identification and treatment methods. These will be held at the Off-Campus Program in Chelmsford and Fall River.
  • Seminar topics will include working with families who have experienced trauma, clinical assessment and intervention for the trauma and mental health needs of military personnel and their families (including family member traumatic injury as well as family member absence), and substance use among women
  • Students will receive one $10,000 for the foundation internship and one $10,000 stipend for the advanced field internship
  • Students will obtain graduate level training and field placements in the targeted communities with the aim that they continue to provide highly effective services in these communities once they have graduated.
  • Participants are chosen from students enrolled in the Off-Campus Programs
  • A two-year commitment is required for participation
