Overview

I apply computer architecture to emerging domains by systematically using explicit application-level and domain-specific insights to guide design across the layers of the system stack, from software to hardware (e.g., using robot limb and joint structure to streamline accelerators). My goal is (i) to expand the traditional system stack to enable co-design with physical real-world information, and (ii) to create new methodologies to implement designs with minimal user intervention. I use robotics as a motivating use case because of its heavy computational demands and potential to help people (e.g., elder care, assisted living).
