Scope of each IAM Release

The IAM project has multiple releases, each focusing on a different scope to better represent and serve students here at BU:

Phase 1 is currently live!

  • This phase allows students to update their display names on their TerrierCards to reflect their display names in the BU Directory.
  • Created a mainframe-independent database of identities and personal information
  • Created an administrative portal for managing identities
  • Builds the infrastructure to support this and future phases

Phase 2, Release 1 focuses on modernizing our identity management system is live!

  • BU Login and Web Account creation moved from the mainframe to our new identity and access management system, SailPoint.
  • Implementation of Password Management, including self-service password reset is available.
  • Establishment of ‘birthright’ privileges (email, wireless access, etc.) now happen in SailPoint.
  • Redesign of the self-service portal for updating the BU Online Directory and updating a user’s personal information; like alternate contact info, personal email and gender attributes, is now available.
