Getting a Job
The Student Employment Office is here to help you find employment opportunities so that you can meet your educational and personal expenses while attending Boston University! Our services are available to students with and without work-study funding, and there are many on-campus jobs that are available to students whether or not they have a work-study award. We also advertise off-campus employment opportunities. Access to job listings is limited to Boston University students who meet eligibility criteria.
Jobs are listed on the Work tab of your Student Link. They are categorized as Work-Study or regular student employment based on their funding sources. Students may find regular student employment by using our Student Job Service, which comprises of Part-Time and Quick Jobs posted from on-campus supervisors and off-campus employers. All positions can be found under the following: Work-Study Job Listings, Part-Time Jobs, and Quick Jobs. These listings are then separated into subcategories (such as Home Services and Tutoring) so that you can easily search them.

Summer Jobs
Summer listings can begin as early as January and continue through the spring and summer. Summer jobs can be either part- or full-time, and can be performed in the Greater Boston area, throughout the country, or remotely.
Summer jobs regularly listed include:
- On-campus jobs

Quick Jobs
Quick Jobs allow you to work around your academic schedule and require only a short-term commitment. These positions range from party help or raking leaves, to assisting in medical research studies or developing a website, and may last from 15 minutes to one month.
New jobs are posted continuously to the Quick Job Listings.
Most jobs are available at the convenience of the employer, but are usually completed within the week. If you’re looking for an ongoing, part-time job to provide you with steady income, however, check out the Part-Time Jobs.
Registering for Quick Jobs
Read the Quick Job Procedures, then register to use the service by completing the Quick Quiz and signing the Quick Contract. Our office processes these registrations during normal business hours, so allow at least 24 hours for your registration to be processed.
It’s important to know that you are limited to three “referrals” per day. We limit the number of jobs you can check out so that everyone has a chance to secure the Quick Jobs they’re interested in. If you view the contact information for a job, that’s considered checking it out, and our system will automatically register the referral on your record. Once you’ve viewed three in a day, you’ll be blocked from the system until the next day.
Work-Study Jobs
Work Study is a federal financial aid program administered by Boston University. It is designed to promote access to employment to help students meet educational expenses. Recipients of Work-Study awards have access to Work-Study and regular part-time job opportunities while attending Boston University, and may access the Work-Study Job Directory on the Student Link once they open for the semester. You may earn your award through working at any job listed in the Work-Study Job Directory. You may also earn your award by working at any job listed under the On-Campus section of the Part-Time listings on the Student Link. Please note that you will need to notify your supervisor of your work-study award and your intention to earn your award by working for them.
