Internship Fund Success!

Thanks to support from the Boston University MBA community, last year the Internship Fund was able to award over $49,000 to ten MBA students who pursued unpaid or under-paid social impact internships.

Students interned at: United Way; Urban Green Energy; Year Up, New Sector Alliance; PATH; World Health Organization; City of Boston; International Economic Development Council; Life is good, Co.; Massachusetts General Hospital; and The Enterprise Center.

The Internship Fund Committee worked hard to plan fundraising events, recruit student applicants, and increase awareness about the Fund throughout the business school.

We received our first donation at our kickoff meeting in January.
We kicked off our February Fundraising Month with a Happy Hour at Cornwall’s.
We sold candy grams and delivered them to students throughout SMG on Valentine’s Day.
We set up a table at the final Cohort Cup event in May to map out where all our classmates were interning over the summer.

Moving forward, the Internship Fund aims to engage 100% of the first year class in our fundraising efforts, as well as expand the involvement of alumni. All funds raised will go to helping first year MBA students pursue career-accelerating internships that that create social impact. Because many summer internships in the social sector are not paid, the Internship Fund enables students to apply for and accept quality positions regardless of funding constraints. We look forward to growing the Fund and fostering strong relationships with social impact organizations throughout Boston and across the globe.
