oSTEM@BU empowers LGBTQIA graduate students in STEM to succeed personally, academically, and professionally by cultivating environments and communities that nurture innovation, leadership, and advocacy.
We envision a campus where LGBTQIA graduate students in the BU STEM community are empowered to achieve success in a safe and supportive environment that celebrates their diversity and unique contributions.
We began in the summer of 2018 as a small group of BU graduate students who convened over cupcakes to celebrate the first annual International Day of LGBT+ People in STEM. We felt that there needed to be special resources for LGBTQIA graduate students pursuing careers in the STEM departments at BU. Thus, we started meeting on a regular basis to find common goals and grow the strength of our community here at BU.
