Content	The document is a speech delivered by Abdul Ahad Mbakke (Serigne Abdoul Ahad Mbacké in French sources), the third Caliph of the Muridiyya during the inauguration of a second water tower in the city of Touba. The water tower was constructed by the government of Leopold Sédar Senghor in 1972. The speech was delivered to President Senghor, religious leaders, and community members. The Caliph provides the rationale behind his speech and expresses his gratitude to President Senghor for his generous construction of a second water tower in Touba. The Caliph appreciates the fact that there was no other place in Senegal at that time where the distance between two water towers was less than five kilometers. He expressed his gratitude to the government and reminded President Senghor of the statement he made when they first met: that the interest of the people always comes first for him. He reminds the Murid communities of their obligations to be good citizens and follow the teachings of Shaykh Ahmadu Bamba who made numerous sacrifices for their sake.
