Martin is currently a PhD Student in Anthropology at Boston University and taking classes in Mandinka through the African Studies Center.

He worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in The Gambia where he lived in both Pulaar and Wolof speaking communities. He then completed a Masters’ degree in Geography at West Virginia University, where he focused on Gambian American transnational migrant communities, remittance economies, and migration management in The Gambia. His current work engages transnational communities of meat production and consumption, focusing on the production of chicken in the United States and its consumption in West Africa.
