Marie Binta Badji studied in the Department of LEA (Langues Étrangères Appliquées or Applied Foreign Languages in English) at the Université Gaston Berger of Saint-Louis, Senegal from 1992-1994. She also holds a professional degree in microfinance and has worked as a zone manager for the Priority Investment Guarantee Fund (FONGIP in French). From 2010 to 2012, she served as Cabinet Attaché for the Senegalese Ministry of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Mines and Industry. She is a trained teacher currently serving at the Education and Training Inspectorate of the Senegalese Ministry of Education in the city of Ziguinchor where she is in charge of the vocational training program.
