The Human Adaptation Laboratory is dedicated to furthering the understanding of motor adaptation and developing interventions to reduce hip pain. An increasing number of active young and middle-aged adults are experiencing hip pain – our goal is to assess how people with hip pain walk, step down, hop, and lift their legs, and to compare this to people without hip pain.
This state-of-the-art movement laboratory features a wide assortment of diagnostic and assessment tools including:
- an instrumented force treadmill
- digital motion capture system
- two multi-component force platforms
- an electromyography system
- signal conditioning amplifiers
- real-time robotics control system
- pressured air
- multiple load cells
