Email Broadcast & Template Design
President Broadcast Emails
Interactive Design will occasionally receive requests to help Boston University’s Office of the President with what are called broadcast emails.
If a broadcast email design request comes in, it will be announced and issued either in the #broadcastemails Slack channel, OR a Project Manager will reach out to either Damien Garcia, or a fellow Lead Designer to resource the task. We use a macOS application called Direct Mail to help assemble these emails.

Email Newsletter Template Designs
For newsletter designs, we occasionally offer support in designing templates, or provide oversight for most other clients, the email templates are built via MailChimp, which is I.D.’s recommended newsletter service. Some clients can be an exception(CAS and DAR, for example), but how those are handled and determined are the discretion and direction of Jon Brousseau and Damien Garcia.
Email Templates can be added to the BU HTML Email Makr app.
From Techweb: Information Services & Technology has developed an exclusive online HTML editor that can help you format a Broadcast message (no HTML knowledge required). It includes built-in BU branded layouts, banner photos, and even has a dynamic preview as you edit your message – you can also submit your Broadcast directly from the site!
