Rachael Bonawitz, MD is an Assistant Professor of Global Health at the Boston University School of Public Health and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. She completed her clinical training in pediatrics in the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics at both Boston Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital, and stayed on as a Pediatric Global Health Research Fellow for two additional years. She holds a medical degree from The University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences and African Studies from Mount Holyoke College. On the MAHMAZ Project, she is the point of contact for the CEmONC Activities and the Mothers’ Shelters training courses. Her areas of interest are improving prevention of maternal to child transmission of HIV and improving care for HIV-infected and –exposed children. She has worked extensively in Ghana, Botswana, Zambia and Uganda.
