TOPIC EDITOR: Neuroinformatics for Neuropsychology in the journal Frontiers in Neuroinformatics. Invited to the role in March 2024.
SERIES EDITOR: Innovations in Cognitive Neuroscience (2012 – 2022)
Invited in 2012 by Springer Science + Business Media (formerly Springer-Verlag) to lead a volume series, Innovations in Cognitive Neuroscience. Purpose of series – to shape innovative themes in cognitive neuroscience and neurobiology via the integration of emerging research and theory.
Published Volumes in the Series
Neural Mechanisms of Language
http://www.springer.com/us/book/9781493973231
Volume Editor: Maria Mody, Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School and MGH – Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging; Developmental Language & Reading Research Lab.
Published: November 2017 [Link to list of contributing authors]
Volume synthesizes research on the neurobiology of language gained over the past decade, through electrophysiology, neuroimaging, and cognitive deficits in genetic conditions with pronounced language impairments. Volume adds a refinement to the understanding of the circuits for expressive and receptive language, as well as the neural underpinnings of phonemic, morphemic, and syntactic functionality. Among the many topics included: Brain oscillations in sematic processing; role of language in structure-dependent cognition; multisensory integration in speech perception; and causal modeling methods in speech-language research.
Neurophenotypes: Advancing Psychiatry and Neuropsychology in the ‘Omics’ Era
http://www.springer.com/us/book/9781461438458
Volume Editors: Vinoth Jagaroo and Susan Santangelo*
*Research Professor of Psychiatry, Tufts University School of Medicine; Director, Center for Psychiatric Research, Maine Medical Center; Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
Published: February 2017 [Link to list of contributing authors]
Volume critically appraises clinical neuroscience research at the intersection of genomics, phenomics, and other “omics” disciplines. Explores neurophenotypes as operational constructs of brain-behavioral domains that facilitate brain-behavioral alignment in genome-to-phenome mapping and systems neuroscience. Topics include brain and cognition in the omics era; phenomics, connectomics, and Research Domain Criteria; circuit-based neurophenotypes; legacy of the endophenotype concept; and discussions of various potential neurophenotypes of relevance to clinical neuroscience.
The Basal Ganglia: Novel Perspectives on Motor and Cognitive Functions
www.springer.com/la/book/9783319427416
Volume Editor: Jean-Jacques Soghomonian, Associate Professor, Anatomy and Neurobiology, Boston University School of Medicine
Published: November 2016 [Link to list of contributing authors]
Volume offers a current perspective on the Basal Ganglia, synthesizing neurobiological data (histological, neural tracing, optogenetic, etc.), neurocognitive data from clinical syndromes (mainly Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and OCD), and functional imaging data. Circuits of the basal ganglia are parsed and networks beyond the striato-pallidal complex are clarified. Computational and integrative models are laid upon the neural circuits delineated.
