Welcome to the Jacobson Research Group
We study the epidemiology of infectious diseases, with a primary focus on tuberculosis. With local and international partners, we combine epidemiological approaches with bacterial and host genetic data and statistical models to explore questions about tuberculosis transmission and outcomes. Much of our work is in persons who use substances. Our collaborations also leverage large data sets to understand TB disease burden from routinely collected laboratory data.
Since 2020, we have also developed programs with similar translational structures to study SARS-CoV-2 variants in Boston’s diverse patient population.
