Jason Cunha, MS

Bioinformatician

I recently earned an M.S. in Bioinformatics from Boston University. In the iCaMP lab, my research focuses on evaluating mitochondrial genetic variation in the context of heart failure and atrial fibrillation, using population genomics and clinical datasets from sources such as the UK Biobank and the Framingham Heart Study.

Prior to joining the iCaMP Lab, I was an NIH postbaccalaureate research fellow at the Framingham Heart Study under the mentorship of Andrew D. Johnson, PhD, FAHA. There, I studied platelet functional markers and genetics related to cardiovascular disease and hemostatic disorders. I hold a B.A. in Biology with a minor in Creative Writing from the College of the Holy Cross.

My scientific interests include population genomics, cardiovascular disease, and river and watershed ecology. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, hiking, fishing, creative writing, and watershed conservation.
