Healthy Minds

The Healthy Minds Network (HMN) is one of the nation’s premier research organizations contributing to adolescent and young adult mental health. HMN is dedicated to improving the mental and emotional wellbeing of young people through innovative, multidisciplinary scholarship. HMN spans coast to coast with our principal investigators at Boston University, University of California – Los Angeles, University of Michigan, and Wayne State University. HEY! Lab core faculty member Sarah Lipson is a principal investigator of Healthy Minds. For 15 years, the network has administered the Healthy Minds Study (HMS), a population-level survey of post-secondary student mental health (https://healthymindsnetwork.org/hms/). Over 850,000 responses from students at more than 800 colleges and universities have been gathered. Given the large-scale nature of HMS, there are unique opportunities for research to understand and address mental health inequalities among minority populations (e.g., Native American students, LGBTQ+ students, students with disabilities, etc.). HMN makes their de-identified data publicly available upon request. Learn more about their data here: https://healthymindsnetwork.org/research/data-for-researchers/.
