Data Equity
A central focus of our center’s mission is to promote data equity as a pathway to advancing health equity. Conducting impactful research requires prioritizing inclusion at every stage of the process—from identifying research questions to study design, analysis, and dissemination. Researchers must thoughtfully consider the historical and social contexts of their work and strive to align their efforts with the needs and priorities of the communities they aim to serve. To support this mission, we are committed to sharing resources and organizing events that inform our community about data equity. This includes strategies to address bias throughout the data life cycle, education on equity-centered approaches, prioritization of transparency and inclusivity, and fostering collaborations– all aimed at building a robust community of practice. This community will focus on maximizing benefits and minimizing harm for all individuals who contribute to or are affected by our work. As part of this effort, CHDS will host events to deepen our community’s understanding of data equity and highlight its applications across a variety of projects, aiming to promote responsible and equitable research practices at every stage of the data life cycle.
