Samar al-Hajj
Dr Samar Al-Hajj, Assistant Research Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences, American University of Beirut and the Founding Director for Middle East and North Africa Program for Advanced Injury Research (MENA PAIR). Dr. Hajj currently leads epidemiological studies on the prevalence of various injury types including road traffic injuries, burns, and falls in the MENA region. Dr. Hajj extensively worked with the refugee community to understand the burden of injuries in humanitarian settings. Following the Israeli 2024 war on Lebanon, Dr. Hajj assessed the physical and mental health impacts of the Lebanese population and the local fragile and limited-resource healthcare system.
