I care about the water quality of our environment, focusing on a major water quality parameter, colored/chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM). Currently, my research aims to quantitatively model CDOM’s photodegradation (photobleaching) in the water system and tries to eliminate this phenomenon’s impacts on remote sensing of water quality parameters (i.e. DOC, chlorophyll-a). With machine learning algorithm, the model was derived from solar simulation experiment results from diverse samples. CDOM photobleaching’s variability with and/or response to environmental parameters are also investigated by this model.
