I am interested in coastal biogeochemistry and ocean color remote sensing as they relate to the carbon cycle. My research uses techniques in aquatic optics and hyperspectral remote sensing to characterize in-water constituents including dissolved organic matter, suspended sediment, and phytoplankton. My focuses include quantifying fluxes of material between land and ocean, understanding the fate of carbon in rapidly changing marsh-estuary ecosystems, and remotely detecting changes in coastal water quality.
