About

Eliciting Language Samples for Analysis (ELSA) is a protocol designed to collect natural language samples (NLS) from children and adolescents with varying language profiles. ELSA was created in 2016 to address the need for outcome measures that could measure expressive language and communication in kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In 2018 Eliciting Language Samples for Analysis-Toddler (ELSA-T) was adapted from the original ELSA protocol to increase the age range and population that could benefit from a natural language protocol.

On this website we provide free access to our ELSA-A and ELSA-T manuals and instructional videos. We also provide additional resources for those wishing learn more about our protocol including our Real Time Coding technique, Research, Publications, and more!
