McGee

On August 15, Dr. Jean McGee joined our faculty as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology.  Dr. McGee received her A.B. degree in Biological Sciences and M.S. degree in Nutritional Biochemistry from Cornell University in 2003 and 2006, respectively.  She then completed her Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology from Princeton University in 2010 and her M.D. degree from Rutgers University in 2012.  She recently graduated from her dermatology residency program at BUSM (June 2016), where she was named Assistant Chief Resident in her second year (2014-15) and Chief Resident in her third year (2015-16).  Dr. McGee will split her time between her research lab, where she will serve as the Director of the Laboratory for Translational Epigenetic Research focused on the development of epigenetic therapies for skin diseases, and her clinical practice.  She has a specialty interest in rosacea, cosmetic dermatology, and ethnic skin.

Deborah Lang, PhD
Associate Professor of Dermatology

Lang

On October 1 Dr. Deborah Lang joined our faculty as an Associate Professor of Dermatology.  Dr. Lang received her Ph.D. degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1998 as an Oslinker Fellow in Molecular Pathobiology, with a thesis focused on transcription factors, cancer biology, and cellular biology.  In 2004 she completed an American Heart Association post-doctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, with a focus on melanocyte developmental biology, stem cells, and transcriptional regulation.  After serving as Research Associate at the University of Pennsylvania, Deborah accepted a position as Instructor at the University of Chicago in 2005 and was promoted to an Assistant Professor in 2008.  In Chicago, the lab made impactful findings in melanocyte stem cells and cancer research.   Dr. Lang will continue basic science research on the molecular and cellular biology of melanoma.  The main focus of the laboratory is on transcriptional regulators that are essential for normal melanocyte development, and how these factors are dysregulated in the promotion of melanoma.
