Tianyi Liu

First-year student

Tianyi Liu (she/her/hers) is a PhD student in the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences program.

She received dual B.A. degrees in Psychology and Economics from the University of California, Davis in 2022, and earned her M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2024. While at Columbia, she worked as a research assistant in the Language and Cognitive Neuroscience Lab, where she investigated how dual language input influences children’s learning abilities.

Tianyi’s research focuses on how bilingual experiences and parent-child interactions shape children’s cognitive and language development. She is particularly interested in how parent-child interactions influence children’s language development in bilingual households, and how language environments shape children’s cognitive development.
