Projects

Currently, the COVID-19 in Africa Data Science Initiative team is working on three projects:

Project 1.0: Modelling COVID-19 Progression on the African Continent

Project 1 is a systematic attempt to provide prevalence, incidence, and mortality estimates across Africa. It is informed by the need to use robust methodology to track and predict the trajectory of the novel corona virus for the region while accounting for the local context. Details and specifics of project 1 are contained in this article under peer-review.

Below are graphical and tabular representation of the findings in project 1 that are not part of the peer review process:

Tabular Results:

Projected COVID-19 Mortality in Africa: April 30, 2020

Projected COVID-19 Cumulative Cases in Africa: May 2020

Projected COVID-19 New Cases: May 2020

Project 2.0: Risk Profile of COVID-19 on the African Continent

The next phase of COVID-19 in Africa Data Science Initiative involvesĀ understanding the factors that accelerate and those that mitigate the spread and mortality related to COVID-19, while accounting for local realities including the healthcare systems.

Project 3.0: Pharmaceutical & Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions

The third phase of the COVID-19 in Africa Data Science Initiative is about simulating both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPI) and their impact on the trajectory of the novel corona virus on the African continent.
