Naiara Patiño

I am a first-year Astronomy PhD student at Boston University, working with Prof. Catherine Espaillat to study protoplanetary disks in young low-mass stars. My current research focuses on using multi-wavelength observations to explore the vertical chemical structure of these disks. By analyzing data from HST, JWST, and ALMA, which probe different parts of the disks, we aim to get insights into the initial composition of forming planets.

Before joining Boston University, I earned my Licentiate’s degree in Physics from Universidad de Los Andes in Mérida, Venezuela. There, I wrote my thesis on the magnetospheric accretion model applied to stars with low accretion rates. I also participated in the Young Scientist Program of the Blue Marble Space Science Institute, conducting research in astrobiology.
