Lunch Seminar with Dr. Jill Becker!
BUWIC hosted an awesome lunch seminar with Jill Becker, CEO and Founder of 02139 Inc. on Friday, November 6, 2015. Thank you, Jill!
Currently, Dr. Becker is CEO and Founder of 02139 Inc, a consulting company she started in 2013 in order to provide executive consulting services and investment advice to both public and private companies with a heavy focus on accelerating growth and the creation of jobs in a variety of industries.
Prior to that, Dr. Becker was CEO and Founder of Cambridge NanoTech Inc., a company she started back in 2003 straight from her PhD thesis at Harvard University. Under her leadership, the company was instantly profitable and operated at a profit every year since then and was one of the fastest growing private companies for numerous years in the US from 2008-2012 until it was sold to Ultratech Inc., a public semiconductor company.

BUWIC hosted an awesome lunch seminar with Ramani Varanasi, an accomplished business executive in the biopharmaceutical industry on Friday, September 18, 2015. Thank you, Ramani!
Ms. Varanasi is an accomplished business executive, with 20 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience. She currently runs her own strategy and business/corporate development consulting practice in the biopharmaceutical sector. Over her career, she has held research and senior level positions in Business & Corporate Development at several pharmaceutical companies.

Lisa Marcaurelle is currently the Vice President of Discovery Chemistry at H3 Biomedicine, a biotech based in Cambridge. After her Ph. D and post doctoral studies, Lisa has undertaken a very exciting career path in drug research and development. First operating as the Lead Senior Scientist at Infinity Pharmaceuticals and then as the Director of the Diversity Oriented Synthesis Platform at the Broad Institute, Lisa has managed early stage discovery focused groups and projects. Please join us for an informal lunch discussion and learning about working as a project manager in the pharma industry.
Lunch Seminar with Amanda Yarnell!
BUWIC hosted an informal lunch seminar with Amanda Yarnell Managing Editor, Editorial at Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN) on Wednesday April 1, 2015. C&EN is a weekly ACS magazine, covering recent news in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering. Amanda has a background in chemistry at Johns Hopkins University (B.A.) and in biological chemistry at MIT (M.S.).

BUWIC hosted a lunch discussion with Lauren Celano, co-founder and CEO or Propel Careers on Friday, December 4 at 12pm in LSEB 103. Lunch Q&A with Dr. Baudoiun Gerard!
BUWIC is hosting the next event in our lunch seminar series this Friday, April 18 at 12pm in LSE 103. Baudouin Gerard, a senior scientist at H3 Biomedicine, will be joining us and giving an informal talk on his career path and the research that he does now.
Baudouin received his Ph.D. in 2007 from Boston University working in the Porco group. He then went on to the Broad Institute where he remained until 2011, when he joined H3 Biomedicine as a Senior Scientist working in drug discovery.

Lunch Q&A with Prof. Ashley Stevens!
Please join BUWIC this Monday February 3rd at 12pm in LSE 103 for a lunch talk with Prof. Ashley Stevens. Dr. Ashley Stevens received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Oxford. He was a product manager at Procter & Gamble before moving in to the biotechnology sector, working for Biotechnica and Genmap. Dr. Stevens then took a position as the Director of the Office of Technology Transfer at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He then took that same role at Boston University, and is now a lecturer in the School of Management for a Graduate level course entitled “Bench to Bedside: Biomedical Innovation”. Dr. Stevens is also currently the President of Focus IP Group, LLC.
As always, lunch will be provided.

Please join BUWIC this Thursday, January 30th at 12pm in LSEB 1004 for a lunch seminar with Dr. June Lum. Dr. Lum is a graduate from the Doerrer Group at BU and is now a postdoctoral research associate at the U.S. Army Natick-Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center. June will discuss the search for a post-doc following graduation and the details of her current position. We encourage all interested grad students, post-docs, and faculty/staff to attend. Please join BUWIC tomorrow October 16, 2013 at 12 pm in SCI 512 for a lunch seminar with Diane Joseph-McCarthy. Diane is the Vice President of Chemistry and Computational Science at EnBiotix Inc, an engineered antibiotics company co-founded by Boston University and Apeiron Partners LLC with a focus on developing and commercializing antibacterial and antifungal discoveries. She will be giving a short career path and research talk with time after for questions. As always, lunch will be provided.
