| Content | These are personal letters from various individuals (some in Dakar or France) to their parents and relatives back in the village. The letters address various subjects including: ending a stalled “marriage project”; a request to send specific books, including the Quran; requests for clothing and shoes; concern about family members’ health; concern about family conflicts; the results of a divination; a complaint about a young woman who refuses to marry and engages in commerce against her male relatives’ objections; announcement of a birth; and a reprimand from an elderly person to a younger relative who ignored him. |
