Welcome to my web site, my name is Murdock Hart. I am currently a research scientist with Boston University, and the manger of the Perkins Telescope Observatory. My research interests are broad and include astronomical instrumentation, data reduction techniques, sky subtraction, atmospheric airglow, and strong gravitational lensing.

Below is an image of SDSS J113249.61+394358.4, a luminous red galaxy (LRG), which is gravitationally lensing an emission line galaxy (ELG) as witnessed by the blue arc. I was able to identify this object in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) spectra by using the sky residual correction technique to remove sky subtraction errors present in the data.
