Dr. Collard is the Director of Laboratory Operations in the Alani lab and an Instructor in the Department of Dermatology. Her research interests revolve around nutrition-based interventions to prevent, mitigate, or treat diseases. In Dr. Collard’s graduate work at Wake Forest University, she studied a muscadine grape extract as a potential therapeutic for triple negative breast cancer metastasis. Dr. Collard completed her postdoctoral training in the Alani lab at Boston University where she studied the role of lipid metabolism in melanoma aggressiveness and investigated gut microbiome perturbations in Hidradenitis suppurativa. Dr. Collard currently investigates the influence of epigenome remodeling on cell metabolism, and vice-versa, in the context of melanoma metastasis and therapeutic resistance. Dr. Collard also has a passion for and is significantly involved in teaching, curriculum design, and mentorship. Some unique facts about Dr. Collard are that she speaks French, is Canadian, and ran DI cross country and track. When she’s not in the lab, Dr. Collard likes to run, bake, make puzzles, and spend time with her family. Unlike many people, she genuinely enjoys Boston winters; Dr. Collard loves snow and winter sports!
