{"id":20,"date":"2016-09-05T11:41:22","date_gmt":"2016-09-05T15:41:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/xling\/?page_id=20"},"modified":"2025-06-10T02:55:05","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T06:55:05","slug":"course","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/xling\/course\/","title":{"rendered":"Course"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>CH 354 \u2013\u00a0 Physical Chemistry Experiments\u00a0 (Spring 2018, 2019, 2020)<strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Course Description:<\/strong> \u00a0This is a 4 credit laboratory course that explores the common techniques of experimental physical chemistry.\u00a0 Experiments in thermodynamics, vibrational and electronic spectroscopy, chemical kinetics and equilibrium, as well as molecular modeling and structure determination, will be explored.\u00a0\u00a0 The lab is six hours each week plus a prelab lecture meeting on Mondays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lecture:<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Monday 2:30-3:20 pm<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><b>Lab sections<\/b>: Wed. 12:20- 6:05 pm; Thur. 12:30-6:15 pm; Fri. 12:20-6:05 pm<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>CH 751 \u2013 \u00a0Advanced Topics in Physical Chemistry (\u201cNanomaterials and optical characterization\u201d)\u00a0 (Fall 2016, 2017, 2018)<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Course Description:<\/strong> In this course, we will get together to discuss and explore the properties, synthesis methods and optical characterization tools of diverse nanomaterials, including nanoparticles, nanowires\/nanotubes, and 2D materials, as well as their heterostructures. The course is an interdisciplinary course and suitable for graduate or senior undergraduate students in chemistry, materials science, and engineering, as well as others who are interested in this topic. Students will gain a broad perspective on nanomaterials research and will receive useful training in literature reading, research presentation, and paper and proposal writing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class<\/strong>: Tuesday &amp; Thursday\u00a0\u00a011:00 am-12:15 pm<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>CH 550 \u2013\u00a0 Materials Chemistry (Spring 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025)<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Course Description: <\/strong>This course will focus on the structure, synthesis, properties and applications of solid state materials.
