BOSTON, Mass. \u2013 Before thoughts turned to Beanpot Monday, there was one more game at hand for the No. 3 Boston University Terriers. BU traveled up to Tsongas Arena to take on the No. 9 University of Massachuetts Lowell Riverhawks. Unfortunately for the Terriers, the trip was too much in the end, as the Riverhawks beat BU, 3-2. Jake Oettinger made 23 saves in the loss, while Clayton Keller led the Terriers with 5 SOG.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Just 1:35 into the game, Joe Gambardella came in on an odd-man rush and wristed the puck past Oettinger to give the Riverhawks a quick 1-0 lead. The Terriers wouldn\u2019t let that slide, as at 3:22 of the period, Patrick Harper got a turnover in the offensive zone, spun, shot, and scored from the slot. The Terrriers also had a 5-on-3 late in the first but couldn\u2019t come up with any goals or decent attempts, an area Coach David Quinn has concern with as of late.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s inexcusable,\u201d Quinn said. \u201cIf we\u2019re going to go anywhere, we have to have a power play.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coach Quinn has lauded his shorthanded unit and it came up with a tally of its own in the second period. On a 5-on-3 for Lowell, Bobo Carpenter bolted in on a breakaway and nabbed a goal past UMass Lowell netminder Tyler Wall to give Boston University the lead. For BU, it was their ninth shorthanded goal of the season, now tied for the most in the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just you have good players, and when they get an opportunity, they bury it,\u201d Quinn said.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for BU, Ryan Lohin found the puck on his stick after another Lowell shot, squared up to Oettinger, and roofed it to even the score once again.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Kenney Hausinger\u2019s on a Lowell power play would do the Terriers in for good. With an empty net, BU put pressure on Wall, but it was for naught.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we\u2019ll dust ourselves off and get back at it,\u201d Quinn said. \u201cWe\u2019ll play for a championship.\u201d<\/p>\n

No. 3 Boston University\u2019s next game is the championship game of the 65th<\/sup> Annual Beanpot Tournament against No. 4 Harvard University.
