Even though 10 different players scored for BU, the Terriers were unable to close the deficit.

Consistent threats Jack Wilson and Brendan Homire led the Boston University offensive attack with two assists and one goal apiece, while junior Pat Myers was second on the team in scoring with a goal and an assist to his credit.

While Hartford started out fast with a 3-0 lead 7:00 minutes into the first, the Terriers refused to panic and responded with a score of their own, as Wilson fed fellow sophomore Hayden Ruiz for his fourth goal of the year.

Hartford continued their momentum into the second quarter, with the Hawks scoring one of their multiple transition goals of the game. Refusing to be outdone, Terrier junior Jack Beall started a fast break that led to a Drew Lukacs goal. Four minutes later, Myers found Homire streaking to the crease to make it a one-goal game.

Unfortunately, this was the closest Boston University would come to tying the Hawks all day. The first half ended with Hartford up 7-4, while Sam Talkow contributed another Terrier goal off of his own faceoff win.

Boston University saved their best play for the third quarter when Wilson countered another Hartford goal. He found Myers for the step-down rip to keep the Terriers in the game.

Shortly before the end of the third quarter, junior Brian Badgett led a transition play that ended with freshman James Burr wide open on the crease. The Terriers capitalized on this with a goal as well, entering the fourth quarter down 8-6.

But in the fourth quarter Hartford pulled away. The Hawks doubled their scoring output from the rest of the game, as they put up eight goals in the final 15 minutes.

Despite four goals of their own, the Terriers were unable to come back from such a large deficit. Ryan Johnston scored early in the BU comeback attempt, while Greg Farris, Chad Bell, and Wilson all chipped in goals in order to narrow the final margin.

BU (3-1) will use this as a motivation as they open their Patriot League schedule by welcoming Navy to Nickerson Field next week at 1 pm.

By: Parker Carson The Boston University men’s lacrosse team suffered their first defeat of the season, falling to the University of Hartford Hawks 16-10 on Saturday.
