When you think of summer, the word \u201csad\u201d most likely is not one of the first adjectives that comes to mind.\u00a0 But for a generation that grew up on Warped Tour, the new Sad Summer Festival is the perfect remedy for a Warped-less summer.\u00a0 While the name seems dreary, the atmosphere could not be any more opposite.\u00a0 Bubblegum pink signage and inflatable pool toys surround the concert grounds, making for an interesting environment for pop-punk enthusiasts to thrive.\u00a0 On the hottest day of the year in Pittsburgh, concert-goers relished the experience, hydrating as much as possible and finding pockets of shade, but moshing nonetheless.<\/p>\n

Jetty Bones, Just Friends, Stand Atlantic, and Mom Jeans set the tone for The Wonder Years, The Maine, Mayday Parade and State Champs.\u00a0 (All in all, it\u2019s a killer line-up).\u00a0 By the time the headliners take the stage, the crowd couldn\u2019t be more amped up and raring to go.\u00a0 The Maine\u2019s \u201csummer of pink\u201d outfits pair nicely with the d\u00e9cor of the festival itself, as does Mayday Parade\u2019s subtle tie-dye.\u00a0 While each band brings something different to the event, they all come together to create just what emo kids need in a post-Warped world, while explicitly stressing the importance of loving one another.<\/p>\n

In the words of John O\u2019Callaghan, the lead singer of The Maine, \u201cThank you for entertaining us today.\u201d<\/p>\n
